As BJP announced Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur as its candidate from the Bhopal constituency, controversy triggered as the leader is currently out on bail and has been accused of Malegaon blast in 2008.

While justifying her candidature from the Bhopal seat, Sadhvi Pragya held a press conference on Thursday evening and narrated her ordeal which she suffered in the jail and termed it as a ‘torture’ by the authorities and further added that she was implicated by the previous government (Congress led UPA regime) and she will not hold back in justifying the cause and prove the charges of ‘saffron terror’ a wrong one.

Sadhvi, who has served nine years in jail, is currently out on bail on the grounds of poor health. She said that “When they took me away illegally, they kept me for 13 days. On the first day itself, they started beating me. When they used to hit me with a belt, the entire nervous system used to go blank. They used to beat me day and night. They wanted me to say that I had a hand in the blast. They used to beat me till the early hours of morning. Those who beat me used to change but I would be their constant target.”

This new term of ‘Hindu terror’ came into existence after then Anti-terror Squad and the National Investigation Agency implicated Sadhvi Pragya, Colonel Purohit and others in the case, as the blast in Malegaon, Mosque and the Samjhauta Express was being seen as an attempt to take ‘revenge’.

In the press brief, Sadhvi Pragya accused Congress of partiality and said, “The Congress has linked Hindus with terrorism, called them terrorists and harassed a woman. I am not recalling my pain before you but all I am saying is that no sister should undergo what I have faced.”
