New Delhi: A cash collection agent was shot dead during a robbery attempt in Delhi's Shahdara district on Friday evening. The incident took place in the GTB Enclave police station area.
Victim worked for a scrap dealer
The victim has been identified as Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Janakpuri, Sahibabad, aged 53. Dinesh Kumar worked as a cash collection agent for Mukesh Aggarwal, a scrap dealer in the Shahdara area. On Friday evening, Dinesh had collected a sum of Rs 98,500 from Pradyumn Singh in the Friends Colony area and was on his way back when he was attacked by robbers.
Details of the robbery and attack on Kumar
According to the police, Dinesh was shot by some robbers in an attempt to rob him. The robbers fled the scene after the attack. The police received information of firing in the GTB Enclave police station area at 7:51 pm on Friday. A police team immediately rushed to the crime scene in Friends Colony, PS GTB area, where they found Dinesh in an injured condition. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by the police control room (PCR) but later succumbed to his injuries.
Police scan CCTV footage for suspects
The police have registered a case under appropriate sections and are scanning the CCTV footage of the nearby areas. The footage has revealed the presence of two suspects, and multiple teams have been formed to nab the accused. The police have urged anyone with any information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
