In a case of insanity, a 12-year-old student was allegedly beaten to death by his seniors in the boarding school near Rishikesh. According to the reports, the senior students of the school thrashed Vasu Yadav with cricket bats and wickets to death over biscuit packet. The students also tortured and poured cold water on him. The incident took place on March 10.
After the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights were informed about the incident, its chairperson Usha Negi visited the school. According to Negi, to hide the murder the school management hurriedly buried the 12-year-old Vasu Yadav’s body in the campus, without informing the parents, who live in Hapur.
According to police, the incident occurred when 12-year-old Vasu Yadav allegedly stole a packet of biscuit from a shop. The shopkeeper later reported the matter to school authorities. Following, the complaint the management cancelled the permission of all students to leave the campus. This action infuriated the fellow students of Children's Academy, who beat up Vasu.
According to local media reports, After the assault, the victim remained in the classroom for the next few hours till he was found by the hostel warden. SSP Dehradun Nivedita Kukreti was quoted as saying that Yadav was beaten in phases in the afternoon, and was taken to hospital in the late evening, where he was declared dead. "2 senior students had beaten him. Postmortem report revealed internal injury shock as the cause of death. 5 people including 2 students have been arrested," SSP Dehradun said.

Reportedly, Vasu Yadav’s father Pappu said the school authorities informed him over the phone that his son died of food poisoning. After the father approached the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, an autopsy was conducted.
Five people, including two students, have been arrested for their involvement in the heinous crime. The accused will be produced before the magistrate later on Thursday.
