Chennai airport was put on red alert after receiving a bomb threat call early on Friday. The security has been beefed up after input was communicated from New Delhi about a caller who has warned about the explosion at the airport.
According to the reports of the Hindu, Security personnel conducted an anti-sabotage check and enhanced armed guards at vantage points.
Reportedly, New Delhi airport Police Control room received a bomb threat call and the caller said that a woman passenger boarding a flight in Chennai bound to Saudi Arabia was carrying some explosives. After the threat call, an emergency meeting was called at the Chennai Airport which involved the officials of the Airport Authority of India, Central Industrial Security Force, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Intelligence agencies and others.
In the view of Independence Day and also the abrogation of article 370, the security was already heightened at all the airports in the state.
Amid high-security alert, Chennai International Airport authority has informed travelers to arrive early.

On August 5, the Union government revoked the article 370 of the Constitution that gave the special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The President confirmed the issue of this notification on Wednesday. Since the article 370 was scrapped, the security was heightened in the Valley and internet facility has been suspended.
