Dushyant Chautala, who is the great grandson of former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal is the current president of the Jannayak Janata Party. Mr Chautala was also the Member of Parliament representing Hisar Lok Sabha Constituency in Haryana.
Dushyant Chautala was born in Haryana’s Daroli, he completed his early schooling from St. Mary School, Hisar and The Lawrence School, Sanawar. He completed his B.Sc from California State University and did his masters in law from National Law University.
In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Dushyant Chautala defeated Kuldeep Bishnoi of the Haryana Janhit Congress by a margin of 31,847 votes, in doing so he became the youngest ever elected Member of the Parliament for which he holds a record in the Limca Book of Records.
On 9th December 2018, after he was expelled from Indian National Lok Dal, he formed a new party Jannayak Janata Party (JJP). This witnessed gathering of over 6 lakh people, this is the highest ever gathering the state of Haryana saw in a political occasion since 1986.
JJP was formed by supporters of Chautala in Jind in 2018, under his leadership JJP contested by-polls of Jind. During it maiden election JJP acquired 37,631 votes and secured second place leaving all opposition parties by far.
In the ongoin counting of votes for Haryana, JJP is leading in nine seats, which could be crucial in the final tally.
