Rajasthan: Teacher changes gender to marry student

Just to spend the rest of her life with her beloved, a school teacher in Bharatpur changed his gender and married one of her students on November 7.

Meera, a physical education teacher, went through the painful sex change operation to marry Kalpana Fouzdar.

Meera, who is now Aarav Kuntal, met Kalpana at the school during physical education classes and fell in love with her.

"Everything is fair in love and that is why I changed my gender," Meera, who is now Aarav Kuntal said.

Aarav expressed that he had always wanted to be a man. "I was born a girl but I always thought I was a boy. I always wished to undergo surgery to change my gender. I had my first surgery in December 2019," he said.

Kalpana, the bride, said she is in love with Aarav and would have married him even if he had not undergone the painful surgery.

"I loved him from the start. Even if he had not done this surgery, I would have married him. I went with him for the surgery," Kalpana said.

Despite being unusual and relatively uncommon in India, the wedding has been accepted by their parents.
