3 students die by suicide in Kota

Three teenagers have committed suicide in two separate incidents, the police said on December 12. The deceased students were studying at private coaching institutes in Rajasthan’s Kota.

According to Kota superintendent of police Keshar Singh Shekhawat, two of those students hailed from Bihar and were studying at a prominent coaching institute. Both the student were found hanging from a ceiling fan in their PG. The first deceased was only 19-year-old, while another aged 18.

The incident came to light when the PG owner got suspicious after one of the deceased did not respond to repeated knocks on the door. The owner then broke open the door and found the teenager handing from the ceiling fan.

“The two were Class XI students and were staying in different rooms of the same PG accommodation for the past six months. We are trying to find out whether they were friends or not. The incidents came to light when the owner of the PG informed the police control room,” Shekhawat said.

Police said that they have not found any suicide note on either of the teenagers.

In another shocking incident, a 17-year-old student committed suicide by allegedly consuming some poisonous substance. The boy hailed from Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh. He died during treatment.

According to the police, the deceased student was preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).

“Last night, he was found unconscious in the gallery of the PG and was spotted by another student who had come there to fill water. He informed the hostel owner who took the boy to a hospital where he was declared dead,” said Ganga Sahay Sharma, station house officer, Kunadi police station. Police have not found any suicide on him.

Police are investigating both the matters.
