Rajasthan: Prominent Khatu Shyam Ji Temple closed till further orders

One of the most prominent temples of Rajasthan - Khatu Shyam Ji Temple has been closed for devotees till further orders. More than 20,000 devotees visit the famous temple every day.

As per the temple committee, puja and aarti will be performed in the temple by the priest but no devotee will be allowed in the temple till further orders.


The temple is currently closed because of the construction and renovation work intended to make darshan convenient for the devotees. Arrangements will be expanded in the temple before the Falgun fair.

Giving details, the temple committee chairman Shambhu Singh said, District Collector Dr Amit Yadav and SP Kunwar Rashtradeep had a meeting of the temple committee on November 10 to enhance the arrangements in the temple.

As per officials, the entry and exit system will be enhanced in the temple premises. The queue system for devotees will be enhanced, the ground area will be covered with a shed, among other works that are in progress.

The Khatu Shyam Temple is located in the Khatoo village of Sikar district. The temple is considered as one of the most important pilgrim destinations in Rajasthan. As per Hindu mythology, Khatu Shyam Ji is the manifestation of the son of Ghatotkacha, Barbarika.
