Rahul Gandhi's defeat in Amethi has really become trouble for him and his party. Reports are coming that Rahul Gandhi may resign from his post of Congress president tomorrow at the CWC (Congress Working Committee) meeting. The reports also suggest that Gandhi also offered the resignation to his mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Thursday after seeing him losing the Amethi seat.
Rahul Gandhi lost his Amethi seat to BJP candidate Smriti Irani by a margin of 55 thousand votes. According to a report of India Today TV, Rahul Gandhi told a group of senior Congress leaders and Sonia Gandhi that he takes the full responsibility of the general election defeat and he is willing to resign from the party president post.
However, the spokesperson of Congress party, Randeep Singh Surjewala has denied the report of Rahul Gandhi offering resign to party. Let us tell you that Congress has faced a major defeat in Lok Sabha Elections 2019 contesting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The oldest party of India, Indian National Congress only managed to get 49 seats while leading to three seats from the last 2014 General elections. Congress has not even affected the BJP in both 2014 and 2019 General elections.
