Congress President Rahul Gandhi filed his nomination from the Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh, home turf for the party chief. Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by mother Sonia Gandhi, sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Robert Vadra. Gandhi will be contesting Lok Sabha polls from two seats. Earlier, he filed nomination from Wayanad constituency in Kerala.

Rahul Gandhi also carried a roadshow in Amethi. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra along with her husband Robert Vadra, son Raihan and daughter Miraya were also present. Later, Sonia Gandhi arrived at District Collector office in Amethi.
Amethi is scheduled to vote in the fifth phase on May 6. Rahul Gandhi to be pitted against the Bhartiya Janata Party leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani.
Smriti Irani in her two-day visit to Amethi, Attacked Rahul Gandhi over filing nomination from Wayanad and said he has “betrayed” the people of Amethi can be reverberating in the minds of pollsters.
Smriti Irani said, “He enjoyed a position of power for 15 years because of the support from Amethi, but now he is going to file nomination from elsewhere. This is an insult of Amethi and people here will not tolerate this.”
The polling for the national elections is scheduled to begin from April 11 to May 19. The counting of votes and results will be declared on May 23rd.
