Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi spent the last day of his three day visit to poll-bound Gujarat interacting with rural womenfolk about breastfeeding awareness in Surendranagar.
The interaction took place in Chobari village, where he sought answers to questions on what precautions should be taken after delivering a child.
He asked the women, "Should a baby be given cow milk? Should the first drop of breast milk released before actually commencing the feeding of an infant? In Uttar Pradesh, the popular notion is that the first drops of breast milk should not be fed to the child."
He further pitched for women empowerment and said that a woman should become the chief minister of Gujarat.
"The Congress party supports women empowerment. Women should be motivated and reached higher positions. Most chief ministers should be women. I want that a woman should become Gujarat chief minister," he added.
During the interaction, Rahul asked them if 50 per cent reservation of seats in Parliament should be for women, and a majority replied in the affirmative.
The Congress vice president earlier in the day offered prayers at the Chamunda Mata Temple in Chotila.
Rahul started his three-day Navsarajan Yatra in Gujarat on 25 September.
