In yet another incident occurred in Indian Railways when at least 40 passengers allegedly fall ill after in Puri-Howrah Shatabdi Express (train number 12278). The reason behind their illness was the bread omelette that had been served to them on board on Wednesday morning.
Reportedly, the train left Puri station at 5:45 am and the breakfast was served to the passengers at 8 am, after the train departed from Bhubaneswar. After passenger had breakfast, four passengers including a child complained of vomiting and uneasiness at Belda station in West Bengal.
As per the reports, a passenger who suffered from the problem belonged to C1 and C2 coach. Railway authorities said that an inquiry will be done regarding it as it is the matter of concern about the hygiene in trains.
According to the Sanjay Ghosh, chief public relations officer, South Eastern Railway said that the food was supplied by IRCTC and it was loaded on the train at Puri. The passengers fall ill after eating the food. However, all the affected patients are being treated at Kharagpur.
Some samples of food have been collected by the authorities and the necessary action will be taken on it, said K Rabin Kumar Reddy, divisional railway manager (DRM) of the Kharagpur division of South-Eastern Railway. He also added that the investigation will also be done whether the vendor had collected food from outside.
Well, this is not the first time when passengers were affected from train food. We have come across several incidents of train food. Previously, a lizard was also found in train food.
However, we are talking about bullet trains in India but the condition of Indian Railways is not becoming good for the passengers.
