A 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with killing his own father in Kumbheri village in Mulshi taluka on May 7. The incident took place on the night of May 6 when the accused bludgeoned his father to death.
Initial probe revealed that the man bludgeoned his father to death after he had thrashed his mother, suspecting her of infidelity.
A police officer from Paud police stated that the accused's mother fainted after seeing her husband unconscious.
"She regained consciousness early on Sunday morning and alerted the sarpanch, who then informed police patil Vasant Dalvi," the officer said.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
In an unrelated incident, a 50-year-old farmer took revenge of his son, who was murdered by his wife and a relative, by killing the kin in the Mitauli area of Uttar Pradesh's Kheri district, police said on May 7.
The 47-year-old kin, Shatrudhan Lala, was shot in the head three times and killed on the spot on the night of May 5.
During the initial probe, police found that Shatrudhan was killed by his son's father-in-law named Kashi Kashyap.
Police said that Kashi Kashyap's wife had killed her own son named Jitendra in 2021 with the help of Lala after he allegedly saw the duo in a compromising position. The incident took place while the farmer was in jail in a separate case.
The accused woman and Lala were arrested by the police and sent to jail for the murder of Jitendra, but Kashi was not happy with the punishment and wanted to avenge his son's death himself.
In December 2022, Kashi was released from prison and is believed to have secured bail for Lala by hiring an advocate. When Lala was bailed out in the first week of April, Kashi was looking for an opportunity to kill him.
According to the police, they are successful in recovering evidence against Kashi in the case.
It is worth noting that Kashi was a co-accused in a 2020 murder case over a local dispute in Kheri district. Before going to jail, he had sent his wife and minor son to his daughter's in-laws' house.
Jitendra mysteriously disappeared in 2021, and his body was found buried in a shallow grave near a riverbank. The police didn't register any case or initiate a probe as everyone thought it was a case of drowning.
After a few months, Kashi's wife and Lala had a fight, and she approached the court. When the police initiated an investigation, they were shocked to learn that both Kashi's wife and Lala had killed Jitendra. Both of them were sent to jail.
According to Additional SP, Naipal Singh, "Kashi was tracking Lala's movements, and when the latter was on his way home from a farm on Friday evening, he shot him dead. We have booked him for murder at Mitauli thana and multiple teams are looking for him.
