Protests against CAA: Vehicle torched in Bulandshahr, violence erupted in many districts of UP

Violence erupted in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, with reporters of stone-pelting and fire incidents coming from Bulandshahr.
Violence during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) being reported from Gorakhpur, Firozabad, Kanpur, and Hapur.

"Mobile internet services and broadband services to remain suspended in the district from 3 pm onwards today, until further notice," informed Ravindra Kumar, the District Magistrate of Bulandshahr,


According to the news agency, ANI, vehicles were torched during a demonstration against CAA, heavy police personnel is present at the spot.

 

On the other hand, hundreds of protesters also staged demonstrations against the Citizenship Act in Muzaffarnagar.

However, Section 144--prohibits assembly of more than 4 people in an area, is imposed in the state.

Meanwhile, police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the protesters who were demonstrating against Citizenship Act.

Protesters pelted stones at police personnel during a demonstration against the Act at Lisari Gate in Meerut.

The police have taken many measures to control the violence during the protests. Drones deployed by the police to monitor the security situation in Lucknow.

Lucknow District Magistrate said, "Situation is in control now. Internet services suspended. Cases have been registered after yesterday's incident.
