Police on alert in Haryana's Panchkula ahead of Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim's verdict in scribe's murder case

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim Singh is again in news for another court verdict in connection with a murder of a Sirsa based journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who was accused in raping a Sadhvi in his ashram and is serving a 20-year jail term, is a prime accused in the killing of the journalist and who was shot dead in a cold-blooded murder on November 21, 2002.


Haryana police has taken the responsibility of appointing full force in the city ahead of the verdict on January 11 and the entire Panchkula region is under tension of communal violence.

Stampede, violence and unrest took place in Panchkula on August 25, 2014 when the court held Ram Rahim Singh guilty of raping a Sadhvi and sentenced him to 20 years of jail. His followers and other people from his Ashram had fought with the state police and 41 followers of the outfit had died and more than 300 followers were seriously injured.
