The PNB scam row has taken another turn in the events after Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi fled the country earlier this year. The Congress party has alleged that Arun Jaitley's daughter Sonali Jaitley and son-in-law Jayesh Bakshi's legal firm took Rs 24 lakh from the Gitanjali Gems, which is owned by Mehul Choksi.
The party claims that Sonali and Jayesh had returned the amount of Rs 24 lakh to the firm, saying we have nothing to do with it. The dateline in this case matters because it was in January 2018 when Mehul Choksi and Nirav Modi had fled the country and the Congress claims that the legal firm returned the money in February 2018.
Group executive of Gitanjali Gems Vipul Chitalai was arrested in March earlier this year and the Group's vice-president was detained by the CBI.

Congress claims they have returned the money saying 'they didn't worked for them' and the allegations by the grand old party hav ecome just before the state assembly elections, to be held in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Mehul Choksi joined jewellery business in 1975 when he took the reins of Gitanjali from his father. He showed the ropes of diamond trade to Nirav Modi during a decade-long apprenticeship. Following this, Modi went on to establish his own business and later on, the brand Nirav Modi.
The CBI booked Nirav Modi for cheating Punjab National Bank and getting involved with Mehul and other family members in a criminal conspiracy of duping the bank with the help of some employess, causing "wrongful loss."
