The Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to take out a mega roadshow in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi. PM Modi is on a two-day visit in Varanasi on Thursday and Friday. The Prime Minister will hold a mega 6-km long roadshow and will perform an elaborate puja at the Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi on Thursday before he sets out to file his nomination papers on Friday. The PM will file his nomination at 11.30 am from the holy city on Friday.
According to Sushant Misra, president of the Ganga Seva Fund, after 2014, this would be the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third visit to the banks of Ganga. "After winning the 2014 polls, he came to seek the blessings of Ganga River and his second visit was with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. This will be his third visit," he told reporters.
“Main yahan aaya nahin hoon, mujhe Maa Ganga ne bulaya hai,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in 2014 when he visited Varanasi.
According to the press release, PM Modi’s roadshow will start from the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya's statue at Lanka and will end at Dashashwamedh Ghat via Godoliya. The PM Modi’s convoy will pass from Ravidas Gate, Assi Chauraha, Bhadaini, Shivalaya, Sonarpura, Pandey Haveli, Madanpura, Jangambadi, Godolia and Kashi Vishwanath.
"After the roadshow, the Prime Minister will participate in the Ganga Arti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. After that, at 8 pm, he will have a conversation with eminent personalities of Varanasi at Hotel De Paris," the press release stated.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be accompanied by the senior leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party including Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj, Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman, besides BJP president Amit Shah.
According to India Today reports, NDA leaders including Shiromani Akali Dal chief Parkash Singh Badal, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Shiv Sena boss Uddhav Thackeray, Lok Jan Shakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan will also be present in the mega roadshow.
Later in the night, PM Narendra Modi will also interact with local intellectuals in his constituency. Varanasi goes to polls in the final phase of elections on May 19.
