PM Modi: Kishori Amonkar's demise an irreparable loss to Indian classical music (ANI)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday offered his condolences on the passing away of renowned Hindustani classical vocalist Kishori Amonkar, saying that her demise is an irreparable loss to Indian classical music.

Posting a youtube link of a film dedicated to the late singer, the Prime Minister tweeted saying 'the works of Kishori Amonkar will always remain popular among people for years to come'.
The classical music legend passed away at 84 in Mumbai on Monday night.

Born in Mumbai in 1932, Amonkar was considered one of the foremost singers in the Hindustani tradition and is an innovator of the Jaipur Gharana.

She received a plethora of awards, including the Padma Bhushan in 1987 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2002.
