Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condoled the passing of former Cabinet Secretary and former ambassador to the United States Naresh Chandra.
Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister described Chandra as an 'outstanding public servant' who 'believed in a strong India-USA friendship'.
He said Chandra had left an 'indelible mark on matters of governance and policy'.

Chandra passed away in Goa at around 10 p.m. on Sunday at Goa's Manipal Hospitals following multiple organ failure. He was 82.
His office confirmed that Chandra was admitted to the hospital on Friday.
A Padma Vibhushan awardee, Chandra had served as the Cabinet Secretary from 1990-92 and was the Indian Ambassador to the United States from 1996 to 2001.
