Pakistan ready to back Masood Azhar’s listing as global terrorist at UNSC, but only if India...

India is pushing hard to blacklist Jaish-e-Mohammed head at the United Nations Security Council after February 14 Pulwama terror attack that killed CRPF jawans. However, China has always blocked its path to ban Azhar. Finally, Pakistan has said that it is open to the listing of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief but put Pulwama condition.

According to reports in News18, on Sunday Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal on a Pakistani TV show, Islamabad Views said that it is ready to favour Masood Azhar’s ban at UNSC, as long as it was not related to the Pulwama terror attack.

“(India should) give evidence that Masood Azhar had anything to do with the attack in Pulwama. If that is not the case, then we can discuss the listing. It is not a big issue,” Faisal said.

Faisal also stated that the Pulwama attack was a separate issue and said that several times Pakistan had said that India was trying to "suppress" the indigenous uprising in Jammu and Kashmir.

Faisal’s statement comes days after the UK said that it was optimistic that JeM chief Masood Azhar will be declared a global terrorist soon by the United Nations even as it called for ‘verifiable and irreversible’ action against Pakistan-based terror groups.
