Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Monday said that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel should have been the first recipient of Bharat Ratna- country's highest civilians award.
"There was a question to give Bharat Ratna to Sardar Patel. I think that if there was anyone who should have been awarded Bharat Ratna first, it would be Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel," said Shah, while addressing a public rally here.
Talking about the contribution of Sardar Patel towards India, Shah said it was because of him that India was progressing today.

China on Monday once again made it clear that it will continue to block India's move to put a ban on Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed leader Masood Azhar, citing "disagreements" in the United Nations Committee related to terrorism issues in this particular case.
"We have elaborated on China's position many times at request. The relevant Security Council resolutions have clear stipulations on the mandate of the 1267 Committee and explicit requirements for the listing criteria of terrorist organizations or individuals," Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying told the reporters, during a press conference in Beijing.

A woman in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur was allegedly gang-raped by four men on Monday.
The brother of the victim has also suffered injuries.
Reportedly, the incident took place in Bhot area of Rampur in the presence of the victim's brother.
As per reports, the brother-sister duo was on a bike when they were attacked by four persons.
The brother was shot and the woman was raped.
