Famous Bengali actor and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Nusrat Jahan, who was admitted to the ICU of Kolkata-based private hospital after she complained of respiratory problems, was discharged on Monday evening, sources said.
While police sources said that the TMC MP Jahan had taken an overdose of medicine after celebrating her husband Nikhil Jain’s birthday, on Sunday night, a statement released from her family said that she was admitted to hospital due to a respiratory issue and She has a history of Asthma.
According to reports, Nusrat was rushed to the hospital around 9.30 pm on Sunday. She was admitted to the ICU and her treatment started immediately.
On Monday, the first time MP also failed to attend the first day of the ongoing winter session of Parliament session, which is scheduled to go on till December 13 and will provide a total of 20 sittings spread over a period of 26 days, including four Private Members' days.
Worth mentioning here that the famous Bengali actress, Nusrat made her political debut after winning the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Basirhat constituency in West Bengal. Later, Nusrat had tied the knot with Kolkata-based businessman Nikhil Jain in the Turkish town of Bodrum in June, 2019.
Jahan had come in the firing line of Muslim clergy after she was seen sporting ‘sindoor’ (vermilion) while taking oath in the Parliament as the new MP.
The TMC MP had said she represented an inclusive India, which was beyond the barriers of caste, creed and religion.
