'No-fail' policy till class 8th rule abolishes by government

The Union Cabinet has given approval to the no-fail policy till class VIII on 2 August.
Earlier, there was a provision under the Right to Education that no student from class V to VIII class would be detained.

The sub-committee attached to the Central Advisory Board had recommended that the policy should be reviewed.

A provision will be made in the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act to bring the changes in the education system at the end of the year that states will stop the failed students to appear in the examination of VI and VIII class. The bill will be introduced in the Parliament for approval.

Earlier on 12 July 2010, Central Government had issued the instructions to the states that they should not stop any child in one class, nor any child should be expelled from the school before completing elementary education.

This step was taken by Government to improve the education system in India.
