Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna, who recently prepared a culinary treat for External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj and other delegates in New York, said that the food was inspired by the ongoing Hindu festival Navratri, but had a twist.
Speaking to ANI, MasterChef India fame said the preparation took him two and a half days.
"All the food was inspired by Navratri. Most of the dishes were based on simple cuisine in India with a different twist. It is always amazing to serve Sushma Swaraj. Whenever she comes to America, I try to prepare meals for her at least once. I feel very honoured...Since she doesn't take sugar, I have made small packets of natural sugar so that she can consume it in limited quantity. We had to prepare one meal, but it took 2 and a half days for preparation," he added.
The Indian Foreign Minister arrived in New York on September 17 for seven days, during which she held back-to-back engagements, centring around the U.N. General Assembly.
