Four people were arrested from Nashik on Monday, September 5, for animal skin smuggling after a team of Forest Department West recovered a leopard skin from their possession.

According to Deputy Forest Conservator Pankaj Garg, the team will investigate the possibility of any international links.

“We are doing the interrogation and will try to investigate if they have any international links,” Garg said as quoted by ANI.

The demand for leopard skins led to widespread hunting of big cats. Despite the global restriction, the leopard skin fetches a huge price in the international market.
