Munna Bajrangi, a mafia don was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh Bagpat Jail during gang war on Monday. Mafia Don, Munna Bajrangi aka Prem Prakash, born in 1967, was a local politician and a dreaded gangster hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Purvanchal. He was the right hand of Mafia Don and Mukhtar Ansari, played a big role in creating an atmosphere of panic and fear in the UP's Purvanchal.
Munna Bajrangi was in jail in the case of the brutal murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand since 2009. Bajrangi was shot dead on Monday morning by one of his rivals, Sunil Rathi, in the jail. He was to be produced in court for his involvement in the murder case.

Bajrangi: An arms lover
Munna Bajrangi completed his schooling till 5th only and was fond of arms from an early age. At a very young age, Bajrangi entered the crime world and the first case against him was filed when he was 17 years old. Bajrangi was involved in the case for fighting and possessing illegal arms.
He later joined Gajraj Singh's gang in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur to mark himself in a world of the mafias. In 1984, he carried out his major crime after he killed a businessman. He also killed BJP leader Ramchandra Singh.
Mafia leader Mukhtar Ansari's right hand:
To increase his fear of Purvanchal, Munna Bajrangi joined the gang of Mafia and politician Mukhtar Ansari in the 90's. This gang was being operated from Mau of eastern Uttar Pradesh, but its impact was on the entire Purvanchal. Mukhtar Ansari has stepped into politics from the world of crime and in 1996, he was elected MLA from Mau on the Samajwadi Party ticket. After this, the strength of this gang increased. The gang and Bajrangi started making money by garnering government contracts.
Munna was directly impacting government contracts. He was constantly working under the direction of Mukhtar Ansari.
BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai's murder:
After being directed from Mukhtar, Munna Bajrangi on 29 November 2005, killed Krishananand Rai. Hundreds of bullets were shot from AK-47 on two trains of Krishnanand Rai on the Lucknow Highway. Apart from Krishananand Rai from Ghajipur, six other people who were accompanying him were also killed in this attack.
During the post-mortem, 60 to 100 tablets were recovered from the body of each deceased. This massacre created a stir in the political circles of the province. After executing this murder, Bajrangi became the most wanted mafia gangster.
Munna Bajrangi: A Politician
In 2012, Munna contested from Mariyahu as a joint candidate of the Apna Dal and the Peace Party in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative elections while being imposed in Tihar Jail. Bajrangi came in third, polling 12 per cent behind winner Shraddha Yadav of Samajwadi Party.
