Mumbai: Shame! Woman repeatedly rape for 5 years on pretext of marriage, act filmed; forced to undergo abortions

In a shocking incident, a woman was repeatedly raped for over five years with false promises of marriage in Mumbai. According to the victim, 28-year-old accused also forced her to undergo two abortions in five years, from 2014 to 2019.

The 26-year-old woman also claimed that the accused filmed the act and used them to blackmail her. The police have booked the man and also arrested the accused's father on Sunday for allegedly threatening the survivor.

According to Vile Parle Police reports, the victim is a teacher by profession and met accused on Facebook in 2012, after which they became friends. The accused promised to marry her and raped her in a hotel in Mumbai’s Vile Parle.

After the victim threatened to commit suicide, the accused agreed to get engaged, that happened in the presence of friends. He did not inform his family members about the engagement.

The accused forced the survivor to undergo an abortion once in 2015, also for the second time in 2017. When she refused, the accused threatened her to viral her video on social media. The accused parents threatened and abused her in February.

"We have registered the FIR under rape charges and other IPC sections. One accused has been arrested. The main accused is wanted," said senior police inspector Laxman Chavan, Vile Parle police station said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
