A wild forest fire that broke our near Aarey colony adjacent to Mumbai Film City that spread around 4 kilometres was doused before it reached high rise buildings. The fire disaster was averted around 6.45 am on Tuesday morning.
The Aarey Colony forest fire was completely doused, but not before it came very close to buildings in New Mhada Colony and Gokuldham Society. However, there were no casualties reported.
The Aarey colony is spread over 16 kilometres, that is a home to several villages near Mumbai and popular Goregaon Film City. As pre-reports, the fire broke at around 6:30 pm on Monday in an open plot near an IT park, located adjacent to the colony.
For an hour the blaze was confined to within 3-4 km of the point of origin. But it began moving towards residential areas in the night, said Chief Fire Officer Prabhat Rahangdale.

Firefighters were using tree branches ("beaters") to create a fire break as they didn't have access to fire appliances, Rahangdale told PTI yesterday.
