Mumbai: 6 killed, 36 injured after part of 'Kasab bridge' near CST station collapses
In an horrifying incident, a part of foot overbridge near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) railway station in south Mumbai collapsed on Thursday evening. At least 6 killed in the bridge collapse incident, around 36 people are injured in the incident. Injured have been shifted to hospital. The death toll is likely to rise.
The incident took place near The Times of India building and the Anjuman Islam College, near CST railway station at around 7:35 pm.
"The bridge was of BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation). However, we're extending all our supports to the victims. Railway doctors & personnel are cooperating with BMC in relief & rescue operations," Ministry of Railways said.

CM Devendra Fadnavis announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 Lakh each will be given to the families of those who died in the incident and compensation of Rs 50,000 each will be given to the injured, state govt will provide for their treatment.
According to news agency PTI, the bridge was commonly known as 'Kasab bridge' after the 26/11 Mumbai attack terrorist passed through it during the terror attacks. The bridge of which part collapsed used to connect Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus railway station Platform 1 north end with BT Lane, says Mumbai Police.
"Foot over bridge connecting CSMT platform 1 north end with BT Lane near Times of India building has collapsed. Injured persons are being shifted to hospitals. Traffic affected. Commuters to use alternate routes. Senior officers are on spot," Mumbai police said.

"As per the information received, a part of foot over bridge near CSMT station in Mumbai collapsed. As per initial information 10-12 persons are feared to be trapped under the debris. An NDRF team has been moved from Andheri center," NDRF said.
