Giant march of a farmer holding red flags and wearing a red cap, who arrived in Mumbai on Monday reached Azad Maidan. Farmers walked through the night so the students writing their board exams should not suffer.
The Maha-March leads the Mumbai road to turn into a sea of red as around 50,000 farmers marched around 180 km from Nashik to Mumbai since the last 6-days. Tribals and farmers joined the protest increasing the numbers around 20,000 last six days ago to 50,000 at present.
Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navanirman Sena, Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena, a part of the alliance ruling Maharashtra, have come out in support of the farmers.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had appealed to farmers not to hold up traffic and cause problems for students. "I have only made an appeal that they should not cause any problem to the traffic since it's an exam day and more than one lakh students will get affected," CM Fadnavis said.
The farmers troubled by fake promises by Maharashtra government plan's to stage 'gherao' protest outside Maharashtra state assembly in a demand to complete loan waiver, fair pay, implementation of M.S. Swaminathan Commission recommendations (which ensures fair remuneration), waiver of power bills and transfer of forest lands.
