The Mumbai Police have arrested five people for allegedly running a fake call centre in Gorai. The accused used to cheat foreign citizens by offering them expensive, banned lifestyle medicines at highly discounted prices

13 hard disks and 2 computers were also seized during the raid, police said as quoted by ANI.

13 hard disks and 2 computers were also seized during the raid, police said as quoted by ANI.

According to media reports, a contact centre employing up to 15 workers was operating out of a flat in the Bhim Nagar area. 

“The medicines, mentioned by the call centre to lure the US citizens, are banned in their country, but are in great demand,” said Ninad Sawant, senior police inspector of Borivali police station.

As per police, the accused directed employees to not to disclose foreigners that they are calling from India. “It is called ‘Pharma Scam’ wherein US citizens pay for promised drugs, which are never delivered,” said a police officer.

A case has been registered and a police investigation is underway.
