Mumbai: Tragedy struck in Mumbai's Tardeo area as a 70-year-old woman lost her life in what appears to be a suffocation incident during a robbery. The victim has been identified as Surekha Agarwal.
Early Morning Robbery Takes a Fatal Turn
The unfortunate incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday while Surekha Agarwal's husband, Madhan Mohan Agrawal, was preparing for his routine morning walk. At approximately 6:30 am, a trio of individuals forcefully restrained him and entered their residence.
Violent Robbery Ends in Tragedy
After gaining entry, the assailants proceeded to bind the elderly couple's hands and seal their mouths with tape. The criminals then ransacked the residence, making off with a haul of valuable gold jewellery, as recounted by the police.
Desperate Plea for Help Yields Tragic Outcome
Following the departure of the robbers, Mohan Agarwal managed to alert the neighbours to the horrific ordeal the couple had endured. The neighbours promptly contacted the police. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took the couple to Nair Hospital, where doctors declared Surekha Agarwal dead.
Robbery Turns into Homicide - Investigation Underway
Police have registered a case encompassing charges of both robbery and murder against the three suspects.
