Mumbai: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has detained a Kenyan woman at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai for allegedly smuggling cocaine valued at Rs 14.90 crore, according to a DRI release on Friday.
Intelligence Operation Leads to Arrest
Acting on intelligence, DRI officers apprehended the Kenyan national, arriving on flight KQ 204 from Nairobi to Mumbai on December 28.
Significant Drug Seizure
Officers recovered 1490 grams of a "white powdery substance purported to be cocaine," concealed within a hair conditioner bottle and a body wash bottle.
Innovative Concealment Technique
The release highlighted the inventive concealment of drugs involving two black polythene packets strategically placed within containers.
Arrest and Legal Action
The passenger has been arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985 and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway, the release added.
