The Khandwa police filed a non-cognizable report (NCR) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Devendra Verma for allegedly abusing a forest officer during a review meeting over developmental works.

Verma, who was chairing the meeting of officials in Khandwa, is accused of threatening forest officer S.K. Singh.

"I was briefing BJP MLA Devendra Verma on work being done when he started to verbally abuse me and threatened me. I have filed an F.I.R. against him," SK Singh told ANI.

Speaking about the incident, Khandwa police station TI, Dileep Puri told ANI that an NCR was lodged against Verma for defamation and threat of injury to public servant.

"Forest officer SK Singh filed an FIR over the incident. A non-cognizable report has been filed," he added.
