NSA Ajit Doval has been given a five-year extension, news agency ANI reported. National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has also been given Cabinet rank in Government of India in recognition of his contribution in the national security domain. His appointment will be for five years.

However, any official announcement regarding the decision is yet to be made. Ajit Doval was appointed as National Security Advisor in 2014.
It was under Doval's watch that the 2016 surgical strikes after the Uri terrorist attack and the 2019 Balakot surgical strikes took place in India against Pakistan-based terror wings.
In 2018, Doval was appointed Special Representative of the Government of India to negotiate the Doklam boundary issue with China. Along with newly appointed Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Ajit Doval was also credited for resolving the Doklam stand-off between the two countries.
