Manohar Parrikar: Condolences arrive from Opposition, Rahul Gandhi says, 'he was admired across party lines'
As BJP loses one of its stalwart politician, the politics of Goa would never be the same without Manohar Parrikar, who was considered to be the most preferred man to head the state.
It was in January, when Manohar Parrikar had said that he would serve Goa until his last breath and it was a promise kept until Sunday, when he passed away as the serving Chief Minister of Goa.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi tweeted saying, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Goa CM, Shri Manohar Parrikar Ji, who bravely battled a debilitating illness for over a year. Respected and admired across party lines, he was one of Goa’s favourite sons. My condolences to his family in this time of grief.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress’ General Secretary in-charge of the UP East, condoled the demise of Goa CM and tweeted, “My condolences to the bereaved family of Shri. Manohar Parrikar. I met him only once, when he graciously visited my mother at the hospital two years ago. May his soul rest in peace.”
Sitaram Yechury, CPI (Marxist) General Secretary, tweeted his regards on the passing away of Goa CM, “Condolences on the passing of the Goa CM, Shri Manohar Parrikar. I have memories of our interactions in Parliament.”
Earlier, President Ram nath Kovind had tweeted informing the nation, “Extremely sorry to hear of the passing of Shri Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa, after an illness borne with fortitude and dignity. An epitome of integrity and dedication in public life, his service to the people of Goa and of India will not be forgotten.”
