Mani Shankar Aiyar breaks his silence on ‘neech aadmi’ remark at PM Modi: Wasn't I prophetic?

Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has finally broken his pro-long silence on his December 2017 remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Gujarat Assembly election when he called him ‘neech aadmi’. Justifying his remark, Aiyar said that he was 'prophetic' in his description of Modi.

In an article written in The Print, Congress leader has expressed his confidence that Modi will be defeated in this national poll on May 23. Aiyar also called Modi the foul-mouthed Prime Minister the country has seen.

"Modi will, in any case, be ousted by the people of India on 23 May. That would be a fitting end to the most foul-mouthed Prime Minister this country has seen or is likely to see. Remember how I described him on 7 December 2017? Was I not prophetic?" Aiyar said in an article in The Print.

Taking swipe at PM Modi, Aiyar also accused him of being guilty of “anti-national activity” in a move to “ride on sacrifices of the army and CRPF martyrs” in a “dirty” poll campaign.

Mocking PM Modi at the Prime Minister’s recent ‘cloud cover’ remark in a televised interview and his claim of using email, digital camera in 1988, Congress leader wrote: “... modern India must cultivate a ‘scientific temper,’ an expression that drives sanghis nuts because they like to believe the ‘udan khatolas’ of mythology were the earliest F-16s to be invented by Hindus, and that Hindu plastic surgery, not a transplant operation, is what led to an elephant’s head surmounting Lord Ganesh.”

In December 2017 during the Gujarat Assembly elections, Aiyar had called PM Modi a 'neech aadmi'. "Ye aadmi bahut neech kisam ka aadmi hai, is mein koi sabhyata nahi hai, aur aise mauke par is kisam ki gandi rajniti karne ki kya avashyakta hai?" he was quoted as saying by ANI.

Responding to Aiyar’s article, BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya said that, "Upset that Sam Pitroda was getting all the attention, the irrepressible Mani Shankar Aiyar pulls Pitroda’s foot out of his mouth... Reiterates and justifies his ‘Neech’ comment for PM!"
