In a much awaited judgement by the CJI led Supreme Court, the Ranjan Gogoi led bench has given interim protection to the Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar from getting arrested but have asked him to co-operate in the investigation.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has been on ‘Satyagraha’ since last 3 days has welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court and has said that ‘it’s a win of democracy.’ Banerjee said, “It’s a moral victory. We have great respect for judiciary&all institutions. We are so grateful. We're so obliged.”
Nalin Kohli, senior lawyer and BJP leader has stated outside the court premises that “It has also been made clear by SC in its order that personal appearance, after filing of replies, of concerned officers may be required&it'll be communicated by Secy General of SC on 19 Feb,if such appearance is required on 20.”

Kohli added that “CJI bench ordered that Rajeev Kumar would make himself available in the light of prayer of the application of CBI to join the investigation, make himself available & cooperate fully. The SC pointed out that no coercive steps would be taken.”

Now, it would be interesting to see how the evidences are taken up by the Supreme Court and in next hearing, when Rajeev Kumar has to be present, what all developments take place.
