In a bone-chilling incident, a seven-year-old boy lost his life after a firecracker exploded in his mouth. The incident reportedly took place in Maharashtra's Buldhana district, police said.
The incident took place at Pimpalgaon village under the Raipur Police Station limits Tuesday evening when the boy, who was playing with his friends did something dangerous that took his life.
Yash Sanjay Gavate, the boy was bursting crackers with his friends ahead of Diwali that is approaching.
The boy picked up a `Sutli Bomb', a dangerous kind of firecracker, which had not exploded, thinking it had not been lit. After which he playfully bit the bomb and the cracker went off in his mouth causing serious injuries to the boy, the police official said.
Yash was declared dead on arrival at the nearby government hospital, the official added.
Every year several children are killed or injured during Diwali while playing with the dangerous firecracker and by not being careful and alert. Meanwhile, amid growing pollution in the national capital, Supreme Court had allowed on 2 hours to burst firecrackers in Delhi and adjacent areas.
