Yet in another lynching case, a 29-year-old man was killed by a group of men in Madhya Pradesh's Dindori district's Singhwara village under the Samnapur police station. The body of the victim who died was later identified as Prem Singh was found floating in the well on August 1. According to the police, the victim's body had many injury marks. The hands and legs of the man were tied with a rope to ensure drowning.
On July 28, Singh was passing by an area where some people were consuming alcohol. "The drunk men called the victim to them but he did not listen and started walking in the opposite direction. Seeing this, the drunk men started running towards him and when they could not get hold of him they started calling him a child-lifter following which, some other also joined them," SHO of Samnapur police station said.
The victim was reportedly beaten up with the sticks by the accused. The accused tied the body of the victim with ropes after he died and dumped him in a well in the village. The body was spotted by a villager who informed the police. The accused 10 men have been held by the cops.
According to the police, the victim's mobile phone location helped in solving the crime. "The victim had last used his mobile at a little distance from the scene of the crime. After the body was recovered from the well, other mobile phones moving in the area were tracked and the accused were tracked down," police said.
