As the first phase polling for the Lok Sabha election began, clashes broke out between supporters of the two rival parties, TDP and YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh. The state is today voting for Assembly and Lok Sabha elections simultaneously.

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has written a letter to the Election Commission, demanding re-polling in the state. He also said that several voters returned from the polling booths between 7 am and 9:30 am due to malfunctioning EVMs.
According to NDTV reports, the Chief Election Officer of Andhra Pradesh has said 362 Electronic Voting Machines were malfunctioning. Naidu also wrote a letter to Election Commission seeking action against YSR Congress leaders for allegedly disturbing polling.
The phase 1 polling to decide the fate of candidates in 91 constituencies across 18 states and two Union territories is underway.
The Phase 1 polling will be held in the states like Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Telangana are voting today in a single phase.
Phase 1 voting is also being held in parts of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Lok election polling is scheduled to hold in 7 phase from April 11 to May 19. The counting of votes will be done on May 23rd.
