Congress president Rahul Gandhi has accepted his defeat against BJP’s Smriti Irani in Amethi who is leading over by around 30,300 votes.
Acknowledging his debacle, Congress chief sent a special message for his rival Smriti Irani. Addressing a presss conference, Rahul Gandhi said, "I respect the decision and congratulate Smriti Irani ji and request her to take care of Amethi with love."
Gandhi also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he respects the people’s mandate. Around 3,00,000 lakh votes are yet to be counted in Amethi.
"I had said that during the campaign 'janta maalik hai' and today people have clearly given their decision. I congratulate the PM and BJP," Rahul Gandhi said.
"Frankly, today is the not the day to discuss what I think went wrong because people of India have clearly decided that Narendra Modi is going to be their Prime Minister and as an Indian I respect that," he added

The 38-day polling process of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 concluded and the results are to be declared today. Fate of 8,040 candidates to be decided. The counting of votes began at 8 a.m and the early trends shows massive leads of BJP-led NDA.
