Ahead of the poll date announcement, Kamal Haasan’s party MNM has received its party symbol courtesy Election Commission.
As Kamal Haasan’s MNM has decided to contest alone in this election, it would be a tough ride for the actor-turned politician to remain relevant in front of AIADMK-BJP alliance and DMK-Congress tie-up.
Haasan, thanking the Election Commission, tweeted, “MNM thanks the Election commision for granting us the "Battery Torch" symbol for the forthcoming elections. So appropriate. @maiamofficial will endeavour to be the “Torch-Bearer” for a new era in TN and Indian politics.”

Another actor Rajnikanth has clearly stated that he would join active politics but will not contest the Lok Sabha polls rather would be focusing on the Assembly election of 2021.
This will be a new era in the politics of Tamil Nadu, after the demise of J Jayalalithaa and M Karunanidhi, a complete political vacuum has been created and to substitute it, leaders like MK Stalin, Kamal Haasan, Paneerselvam, E Palaniswami, TTV Dhinkaran have come up but it’s the alliance of the national party’s which has become the centre of attraction.
