As the 2019 Lok Sabha election is approaching, the Dalit outfit Bhim Army is all set to hold a Bahujan Hunkar Rally in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar today as announced by chief Chandrashekhar Azad in a video.
Azad, who was earlier detained by the UP Police in Deoband was admitted to hospital after reports of ill health and recorded his video urging the people to gather in large numbers on March 15.
Azad, in the video clip declared that the rally will be massive and the target is to defeat PM Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
“There is no power in the world which could stop Delhi from turning blue during hunkar rally. Ever since I have pledged to defeat PM Narendra Modi, the government has been shaken but I and the Bhim Army will not stop,” he said.
Azad was arrested by the UP Police for allegedly violating the model code of conduct and post that, he felt unconscious and was later on admitted to Anand Hospital in Meerut.
The political consensus has built up in favour of Bhim Army since they announced that they will be putting up candidates against PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi and Union Minister Smriti Irani. Bhim Army enjoys support of Dalits, Muslims and other backward classes, especially youths among them which could harm the voter base or split the consolidated votes of the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party alliance.
Congress’ General Secretary for UP East, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, met Chandrashekhar Azad in the hospital and a political turmoil started brewing in the corridors of Lucknow as a new alliance might be in making.
