After announcing the poll bugle via the interim budget of 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the campaign of BJP in West Bengal today as he is bound to hold rallies in Durgapur and Thakurnagar.
After setback from the Calcutta High Court and Supreme Court, the BJP was not allowed to hold Rath Yatras across the state which they were planning for BJP president Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi. But, now the BJP will be holding rallies and PM Modi will lead the campaign with his rallies and the straight target will be TMC’s Mamata Banerjee.
BJP, while presenting the budget of 2019, has smartly targeted the middle class and waived off the income tax for salaried class up to Rs 5 lakh per annum and also announced a sum of Rs 6,000 for farmers annually to be transferred directly in to their account, who have less than 2 hectares of land.

BJP’s national secretary Rahul Sinha stated, “Just as our party president Amit Shah had started the poll campaign in Bengal from Malda in a public rally on January 23, Modiji will kick start the campaign in Nadia and Burdwan West districts and boost our Bengal campaign.”
Bhartiya Janta Party has also accused the Trinamool Congress of spreading rumors and vandalism ahead of PM Modi’s rally in Durgapur today. Some TMC members have allegedly thrown ink on the PM Modi’s posters and also replaced it with CM Mamata Banerjee.
BJP MP Babul Supriyo tweeted saying, “Heights of indecency portrayed by TMC. Prior to the visit of our honourable PM @narendramodi Ji, his posters are been torn in Durgapur & instead Mamta Banerjee’s posters are being stuck on top of it! TMC goons have attacked BJP Karyakartas.”
