The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s residence on Friday morning in connection with an alleged land scam case. The CBI raided Rohtak residence of Hooda, that is among 30 premises in Haryana and Delhi-NCR.
The CBI is conducting searches at more than 30 places in Delhi and nearby areas in connection with the alleged land allocation irregularities case, news agency ANI reported.
Haryana’s vigilance bureau first launched a probe in 2016 into how the Haryana Urban Development Authority under Mr Hooda had allotted land to the Associated Journals—group that own Congress-lnked National Herald newspaper.
Reportedly, the Supreme Court on November 1 2017, ordered a CBI probe into the acquisition process for 1,407 acre and subsequent release of 95 % land.
“In the circumstances, without making any further comments, as they may prejudice the investigation itself to be made by CBI regarding action of release of land in the instant case, let there be CBI investigation and it may submit report to this court within a period of six months from today,’’ the apex court had ordered.
