In a major encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, a Deputy SP, an Army jawan and 3 Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were killed on Sunday.
The encounter, which carried on for five hours injured two Army soldiers, including a Major but the personnel were able to sanitize the area post the clash between the militants and forces.
This comes amidst the high tension in Jammu and Kashmir after the Pulwama terror attack on CRPF convoy, which claimed the lives of more than 40 personnel. Although, the forces faced public ire as almost 1000 people had gathered around the encounter site and started pelting stones on the security forces.

The stone pelting clearly helps the militants and terrorists flee away from the site and it immediately started in Kulgam as soon as the encounter began.
Aman Kumar, the Deputy SP who was leading the police team and was martyred during the encounter, was a 2011 batch officer from the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service, who was in Kulgam from 2 years.
The Kashmir Zone Police condoled the death of Dy SP Aman Kumar and tweeted, “We pay rich #tributes to our colleague #Martyr #DySP Aman Kumar for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of #duty today at @Kulgam. We stand by his family at this crucial moment. RIP.”
Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh said “they have lost a brave colleague.”
As the tension in the valley has risen, the Ministry of Home Affairs had already sent 100 additional companies of Paramilitary forces on an “urgent basis” to monitor the situation.
