Khap Panchayats in Haryana on Saturday rises the price of milk in protest against the Centres new farm laws and increasing fuel rates. Khap panchayats announced that they will sell milk at Rs 100 litre to government cooperative societies starting today.
While addressing the media, a Panchayat spokesperson stated, "We have decided to give milk at the price of Rs 100/litre. We urge dairy farmers to sell milk at the same price to government cooperative societies."
Many people were seen protesting against the soaring petrol and diesel prices, coupled with their apprehensions against the farm laws in Hisar.
The demonstration comes day following Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan termed "less fuel production by manufacturing countries to gain more profit" as one of the reasons for the price hike.
"There are two main reasons behind the fuel price rise. The international market has reduced fuel production and manufacturing countries are producing less fuel to gain more profit. This is making the consumer countries suffer," Pradhan said.
In the meantime, farmers have been protesting against the centres farm laws at Delhi borders since 26th November. They have been demanding a complete rollback of the laws and a written assurance on Minimum Support Price from the government.
Protests have been taking place at the different borders of Delhi since November 2020, against the three newly paassed agriculture laws - Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
