Kerala: CPI leader arrested for molesting minor on multiple occasions

A Communist Party of India (CPI) leader named Satheesan was arrested by the Arthungal police in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The arrest was made after a complaint was filed by a 14-year-old girl who had accused Satheesan of molesting her on multiple occasions.

Charges Filed Against the Accused

The victim's complaint led to the registration of a case against Satheesan under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. The Act is designed to protect children from sexual offenses and provide a legal framework for dealing with such cases.

Details of the Incident

The victim, who belongs to the scheduled caste community, revealed the incidents of molestation during a counselling session at her school. Satheesan and the girl's family were known to each other, and the accused was the president of the SC community co-operative society, according to the police.

Legal Proceedings

After his arrest, Satheesan was produced before court and sent to police remand. Further investigations will be conducted to ascertain the facts and gather evidence in the case.
