A shocking incident took place in Karnataka where at least 11 people dead after consuming the contaminated prasad in Chamarajnagar district on Friday.

Also, 66 people were ill after eating the prasad. The deceased include a girl and a woman. However, all the deceased have been taken to the Mysuru for treatment, police said.
As per the news agency ANI, the death toll has gone up to 11.

Earlier, six people died, including a girl, a woman and four men. While at least seventy-five people were admitted to different hospitals, PTI reported.
Moreover, Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy had rushed the hospital and met with the patients to about their conditions.

He said, “I cannot comment on the incident without getting full information. I have told the officials, including district collector and police, to find out the truth behind the incident." However, two culprits have been arrested. "The government will take care of all medical charges and Rs 5 lakh rupees has been granted for the family of the deceased," said HD Kumaraswamy.
He also added that 'There is an unfortunate food poisoning incident in Kamgere village. Principal Secretary & commissioner has instructed DHOs Mandya&Mysore to provide help to Chamrajnagar health administration,' ANI reported.

District Health Officer Prasad said it was suspected that poison might have got mixed with the 'prasad', resulting in the tragic incident.
As per the PTI, the event was organised on Friday for the foundation laying ceremony of Maramma temple and after the function, the prasad was distributed.
Most of those who attended the event followed the 'Om Shakti' tradition.
After eating the prasad distributed in the event, people started vomiting and began writhing with stomach pain, police said.
As per the reports, people who have been affected also complained about the smell of kerosene oil in the prasad, but ignored it.
